| Julia Stiles: I think women get caught up
too much in having a plan--"I'm going to get married at this age;
I'm going to have a kid at this age"--and then they just try to find
a guy who will fit into that picture. I don't want my life to be
based on that.
Julia Stiles:
Traveling to wonderful places is one reason I love my job.
Julia Stiles:
I think my college experience is different not because of my
celebrity but because I have a career. I don't have to be searching.
I don't have to worry about grades except for pride.
Julia Stiles:
I'm only 23, I haven't really done many crazy things for love. I
would like to do something really crazy.
Julia Stiles:
Just because I had done (''10 Things''), I wasn't going to turn down
the acting experiences of my life.
Julia Stiles:
I like analyzing human behavior. It's complex. That's what keeps me
going.
Julia Stiles:
So I am happy to have fans, especially if it enables me to keep
working. And I am really grateful when people respond to my work.
Julia Stiles:
Ten Things was great because it was a fun comedy and I made such
good friends. Hamlet was so exciting and occupied every corner of my
brain. State and Main was wonderful because I got to work with David
Mamet (one of my favorite writers and an acting mentor) not to
mention the great cast... I could go on but then you guys would stop
reading.
Julia Stiles:
Of course my family and friends are incredibly valuable to me. They
keep me sane, they teach me things and I love spending time with
them. I think that ranking what you value is a sort of western and
linear way of looking at things. You can find great importance in
your friends and yourself, but each doesn't preclude the other. As
with any relationship, treating your family and friends well can
only really happen if you can treat yourself well (and vice versa).
And if your family/friends treat you well, then you are given the
power to respect yourself. It's a cyclical thing. God, I sound like
Stuart Smalley or Oprah. Ok, I'm done.
Julia Stiles:
I would get eaten alive if I did Shakespeare in Britain.
Julia Stiles:
I don't have a preference either way of the size of the film or the
size of the budget, but obviously when you're making a movie you
want people to see it. So in that sense, making a studio film at
least you have a guaranteed release. But my main goal is to be a
chameleon as an actor and play various different kinds of roles so
people don't get used to seeing you in one particular type.
Julia Stiles:
Oh, dating an actor is your best bet for getting into the gossip
columns if that's what you want!
Julia Stiles:
I like to show a little skin but not be too revealing. In the end,
sexiness has to do with hormones, chemistry--it's pheromones.
Julia Stiles:
My regular school didn't know what to do with me!
Julia Stiles:
What I try and do is develop a familiarity with the people I work
with. I wouldn't have an affair with my co-star, but I like to bond
with the person I'm acting with. Then I pull from different things
like relationships and real life.
Julia Stiles:
I stopped being a vegan and then became a vegetarian. But the first
meat I ate was not a hamburger - that was just a joke I made on a TV
chat show. I changed diet because it really wasn't healthy. Being
vegan is a hard thing to do and I became really badly anaemic. When
you are travelling there is no way you can get proper nutrition. So
now I do eat some red meat but not all the time.
Julia Stiles:
I had to do a lot of deportment school for Mona Lisa Smile. And
taking dance classes as a kid taught me how to hold myself. I like
using that in acting.
Julia Stiles:
I'm really happy, like a dream come true for me. Life's good, so I
can't complain.
Julia Stiles:
I always feel like a goofy little kid.
Julia Stiles:
If I'm gong out to a club I like to have fun with it. I'll use blue
or red sparkly eyeliners and glittery eye shadows. Then I'll put on
some blue mascara. I focus on the eyes.
